Coromega Complement A Different Twist In Omega Three Nutritional Supplements
Thursday, April 19th, 2012“
Coromega supplement is the new kid on the block which is challenging the traditionally accepted fact that fish oil is to be taken in the form of capsules containing the oil inside.
This supplement instead delivers the oil inside a water emulsion, which is supposed to achieve higher levels of absorption in the body of the beneficial omega 3 fatty acids present in the oil. Fact is, this is still a new technology which is under research, and should be some time before it can be conclusively proven if its really effective or not. Now lets take a look at the amount of omega 3 present in the Coromega supplement.
This is an important point which determines if the oil is really any good or not. This supplement delivers 350 mg EPA and 230 mg DHA in a days serving. This is actually a healthy amount and should be good enough for providing the health benefits attributed to omega 3 fatty acids. The only problem is, its an old school of thought that mandates having an EPA rich oil, latest studies and research have indicated that DHA is the more beneficial fat of the two.
Thats why many companies have started moving towards having DHA centric supplements.
Things look good for Coromega fish oil so far. Now lets dig a bit deeper into it. The first glaringly missing information from their website is what is the source of their oil?
Which species of fish is it extracted from and from which part of the worlds oceans? These are important questions as not all fish contain the same quantity and quality of omega 3. Wild, cold water fish like the hoki (found off the southern New Zealand coast) contain higher quality omega 3 than, say, a farm bred salmon found in Norwegian waters. The purity of the oil in the Coromega supplement is also a grey area.
